Building Miniature Worlds For Modern Heirlooms
Created for Swank Metalsmithing’s new website and brand refresh, this video-first campaign transformed their engagement rings through two opposing handmade worlds: a misty marshland pond and a bright Victorian vanity.
Built entirely in studio, the campaign was designed to move fluidly across web, social, motion, and high-resolution stills while turning the making of the work into content of its own.

CREATIVE CONTEXT
Swank approached us with a seemingly simple brief: create one light world and one dark world around a collection of engagement rings for their new website and brand refresh. After developing multiple creative directions, we landed on two opposing handmade worlds: a misty marshland pond and a bright Victorian vanity.
Even the “lily pads” became a miniature styling challenge. Nasturtium leaves gave us the right scale for the rings, suspended over the water on clear acrylic columns to create the illusion that the jewelry was floating naturally across the surface.
Because the campaign was conceived video-first, each composition had to work horizontally for web and vertically for social without either appearing as an afterthought. The two accompanying hero images had to work coherently as a whole, but also as high resolution derivative crops of each individual product.
The handmade process also became a behind-the-scenes story in its own right, allowing Swank to share not only the finished fantasy but the craft behind creating it. Watching an artificial world emerge from plants, water, lighting, and practical effects captured much of what we love about tabletop production: taking something that does not exist and making it feel completely real in camera.
