Nightflare Creative is made up of the award winning photographer and filmmaker duo Drew Johanna and Nick Night. It is the culmination of more than a decade of artistic collaboration in stills, motion and creative direction. They are known in the industry as a power couple that melds upcoming trends with artistic nuance for evocative, eye catching campaigns.
These two go way back. After meeting at an arts driven high school in Oakland CA, they moved to Canada to attend Emily Carr University of Art + Design where they earned BFAs in Photography and Film. They produced work that landed them in gallery shows across North America and Europe, as well as film festivals in Seoul and Los Angeles, picking up a few awards along the way.
Ever drawn to painterly imagery, they create etherial compositions that glow from within. Their favorite work is style heavy with botanical flourishes, always intending to immerse the viewer into their world of earthy romanticism.
With backgrounds in prop and food styling, lighting design and retouching, they are well informed to lead a production from big picture conceptualization to fine granular detail.
On set they try to keep things fun and light, maintaining a warm attitude while getting the job done. They’ve been likened to the on-screen couple of David Rose and Patrick Brewer from the hit comedy Schitt’s Creek. If that’s your vibe, working with them is sure to be a good time.
They are vehemently committed to fostering an inclusive, hate-free work environment where all are welcome and encouraged to be a part of the conversation.
The couple is now based in PDX, working out of their own dedicated studio space. They are happy to call Portland home after working for years in Los Angeles. Drew and Nick spend their time off-set cooking and hosting dinner parties, playing with their floofy studio dog Flora, interior designing and gardening in their 1891 Victorian Farmhouse.
