VR 360 Fashion Film "Maypole"
Our first venture into the world of virtual reality was a fashion film entitled "Maypole". The idea was to put the viewer in the center of a strange maypole dance, like the British folk festival tradition. Appropriately, we shot in Edinburgh, Scotland with our frequent collaborators YoutheJuice Creative at their amazing space The Biscuit Factory. We wanted to add surreal contrast to industrial scene by mounting foliage to simulate abandoned overgrowth, as per Drew Johanna's signature art direction style. We shot on a homemade rig with 5 GoPros What originally started as a stitching issue in post turned out to be a boon for us, as the ghost trails on the dancers added an ephemeral quality that would have otherwise not been there.
The song is the single "Which Way" from our friends French Royalty. We employed the extremely talented aerialist SkinnyRedhead for a solo rope performance. Click and drag on the video below, but watch with a headset to get the full 360 VR effect.
